Preparing For Laminate Flooring

If you are looking to put down some laminate flooring the first thing you need to check is that there are no holes or cracks in the surface of your floor and that it is level. If you have cracks these can be filled with mortar. If the floor isn’t level then you can purchase a self levelling compound from all good DIY stores.

If using a self levelling compound you must allow it to fully dry before continuing with your preparation. Once your floor is dry and level you should hoover any remaining grit from the floor. You are then ready to begin laying your damp proof membrane.
